Academics

The Academic portfolio ensures that academic issues are dealt with. Monthly meetings are held with all the relative class captains to ensure that each student is satisfied and comfortable with class issues. A chain of command system is used which is explained to the captains in the monthly meetings, whereby, student queries are brought to the attention of the relative subject representative as well as class captain. If for example there is a specific issue between a lecturer and a student and the student feels that he/she has been treated unfairly, then together with the subject rep and class captain they will try and resolve the issue. If the attempt is unsuccessful and the student still feels strongly about the issue, the class captain, may lodge a complaint with the head of the respective department to which the particular lecturer belongs. If, still nothing, then together with your written complaint, I book a meeting with the dean, to whom I bring the attention of your query and together we try and address the issue trying to resolve it. Welfare Week too is organized by myself. It takes part during the week leading up to mid year exams and aims to help students cope with the stresses of the year and places some emphasis on relaxation to aid with the respective stresses. A program will follow. If there are any queries or should anyone wish to chat, don’t hesitate to contact me.
