Welcome Function

Every year House Jacaranda has its annual welcome function for students who will be staying in Jacaranda for the year ahead. This year the end year function was held on the 17^th of March. The day started off with a mini sports event whereby Jacarandians participated in playing chess, ring tennis, volleyball, pool and table tennis and later on in the evening prizes were given to those who won each game. The day proceeded into a scrumptious stir-fry evening. This was an interesting and exciting meal as each Jacarandian could make or ask a chef at hand to “stir-up” their stir-fry of choice. The function gave Jacarandians the opportunity to mingle with each other and get to know their neighbours a little bit better.

Academic evening

Jacaranda is not all about socials and having fun, afterall it is a postgraduate residence with students completing their Honours, Mastes and even Doctoral studies. Therefore the academic eveing was a night for fellow Jacarandians to showcase their projects and present to other students what their studies are about. The following Jacarandians ceased the opportunity to give presentations to the house of Jacaranda: Maitumeleng Ntho-Ntho, Emmanuel Owuse-Sekyere and Dr. Pieter du Toit. Thank you to all who presented it was an insightful and encouraging evening indeed.
