External Culture @ Curlitzia
You have not experienced Curlitzia in its full glory before you have seen its cultural side! We live for the thrill of performing and the satisfaction of putting on a kick-ass show. We pride ourselves by always being creative, professional, entertaining, sexy and just plainly a feast for all the senses.Basically external culture consists of four events.
Ienkmelodienk: This is the first years’ chance to shine and show the rest of the res as well as the entire University what they are made of. We choose a cool theme and perform a show of singing and dancing. It is a lot of fun and an experience that all first years always hold close to their hearts for many years to come.
Serrie: Same concept as Ienkmelodienk but this time the entire res takes part and we put on an even better show than the previous one.
House Concert: For all the drama queens! House concert is a drama production done by anyone who wants to be a part of it. This is where we have the opportunity to show off all our brilliant acting talent (and believe me when I say we have a lot of it!)
Serenade: This is Curlitzia’s strong point! Twenty girls with angel voices sing in harmonies that give everyone goosebumps! The winners of Serenade represent the University on national level. We represented Tuks in 2006 and 2007 and plan to do it again.
But external culture at Curlitzia is not all about winning (even though we love that too), it is about the experience, about the opportunity to meet new people and form new friendships and most of all for the hours and hours of fun that goes with creating a awesome production.
Internal Culture @ Curlitzia
This is where the heart beat of Curlitzia is - where more than 350 talented, beautiful and gifted girls, from all over Africa, get to know each other and learn to live together as sisters. During the year we have themed culture evenings and a culture week where everyone can explore other cultures eg learn the more sophisticated art of wine tasting at a French night or show off their talents of dancing and singing at our Barnyard Talent show. And to top these amazing evenings, we usually have them together with another men’s residence (never know where your “trouman” might be hiding…). We also attend lunch classical concerts so as to refine ourselves in the knowledge of the music from long-gone eras.
At the end of each year there is also an opportunity for each Curlitzian to exhibit their talents of painting and creative writing at the annual Expression competition hosted by TUKS.
In Curlitzia you will definitely find it easy to have a full, balanced, and culturally rich experience. Kloek-Kloek and welcome to the Curlitiza Sisterhood!!
