Research

The Department of Auditing is involved in projects with the Southern African Institute of Government Auditors and other institutions. There are currently three projects:

  • The Public Sector Reporting Award The annual reports of all national and provincial departments are evaluated against the criteria laid down by National Treasury and international best practices.
  • The Sake-Beeld Reporting Award The reporting of financial information in the written media of all listed companies are evaluated against best practices. The reports are published on a monthly basis in Sake-Beeld.
  • The Public Sector Fraud Survey The first survey was conducted in 2002. It was the first public sector fraud survey that was done in South Africa and is conducted biennially.

iKUTU Research Project

The Departments of Auditing at the University of South Africa, University of Pretoria and the Tshwane University of Technology, in conjunction with the Bureau of Market Research (BMR) at the University of South Africa (Unisa), have conducted a research project to establish the standing of and demand for internal auditing within South African listed companies.
