Magrietjie’s culture is synonymous with excellence, greatness and most of all –FUN!! This is where everyone has a chance to glimpse into the amazing pink world we live in – and for us to show how much we love it!
During the year there are more than enough opportunities to showcase those unique talents within you- be it dancing, singing or letting your voice be heard in the ATKV debate. There’s something for everyone!
The year kicks off with our newbies introducing themselves to the Tuks family through IENKMELODIENK. This all-firstyear dancing event takes place after orientation week and is the perfect opportunity to mingle with your fellow spikkels and lose some extra weight
This sassy event is for everyone in the house and entails about a month of dancing and singing practice building up to an unforgettable final! This is truly a highlight on the Tuks culture calender, with all the residences competing for this prestigious title. Magrietjie has quite the reputation as dancing queens and every year is no exception!
For the nightingale in you… I’m always amazed by the amount of talent showcased in this stylish event. Besides singing your heart out and loving every moment of it, serenade is also a great chance to bond and build new friendships during the months of practice.
I am extremely excited about the year ahead! I know it will be filled with laughter, memories and friendship; as it always is! Magrietjie is UNDOUBTEDLY the place for the ultimate culture external experience… Brace yourselves spikkels!
With passionate regards
Christine van Aswegen
Culture plays a very important role in Magrietjie. We usually have five culture evenings per year which are hosted by us and another men’s residence at Tuks! Culture evenings consist of exploring new cultures, opening your mind to new ideas and embracing the diversity of people, while having the time of your life with your friends and getting to know new people.
Culture Internal is not just about culture evenings, but we strive to accommodate all aspects of culture and to give every lady in Magrietjie the chance to be herself in a creative environment.
For the "arties", we have a STUKU EXPRESS, which is an art- and word exhibition and every Magrietjie lady can enter for culture marks which contribute to Culture Res of the Year.
Every Thursday there's also Leo Haese Lunch Hour Concerts that the first years are required to attend.
