 Welcome to Xayata

House Xayata is a student accommodation with its own distinct history, life and culture. The name "Xayata" was found during 2009 by residents at that time.

Xayata has two buildings formerly known as Glaskas and Pastorie. Because of this, the Student Management Committee of 2009, under the leadership of Mr Sean Madjoe, saw the need to bring the House into unity, by establishing a common House name, making us one big family.

The name Xayata was presented by one of the former house members, Mr Joseph Mogale. The name according to the Khoi speaking people means “together we shall”, which was incorporated into the House motto that says “together we shall”.

Xayata was officially launched as a residence and member of TuksRes on saturday, 12 May 2012 in the presence of the Director of residence Affairs, the Registrar of the university and the architect/designer of Xayata, and the 2012 residence committee and house parents Mr and Mrs Mnguni
.

"We pride ourselves to be a res that strives for Academic Excellent above all else."
