STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE (SIFE)

SIFE is a global, non-profit organization affiliated with over 1500 tertiary institution in over 40 countries around the world. The aim of SIFE is to create economic opportunity for communities in need by encouraging University Students to develop and implement strategic innovative community upliftment project in order to cater for their unique needs. SIFE UP represents the University of Pretoria Chapter of this organization.

At SIFE UP, our aim is to be "the change we want to see in the world" (Mahatma Ghandi). In order to achieve this all important goal, we have embarked on a number of life changing social empowerment initiatives in numerous communities around Gauteng through which hundreds of lives have been touched. Current initiatives include commercial agriculture projects, business education seminars in impoverished communities, women empowerment programmes, and even direct business reforms.

It is important to note that SIFE UP is not a charity organisation, we don’t deal in handouts. Rather, we specialise in equipping others with tools to improve the lives of countless people.
