Purpose of the Teaching and Learning Committee

The purpose is to consider on behalf of the Faculty Board, the relevance and academic standards of academic programmes, to exercise quality control over Teaching and Learning, and to have oversight of teaching and learning initiatives in the Faculty.

Teaching and Learning Committees in Faculties have been established in accordance with guidelines set by the Senate to monitor the relevance and academic standards of programmes in Faculties. After departments and schools have considered the appropriateness of any change to programmes or modules, which includes the introduction of new modules or programmes or de-activation of existing modules or programmes, the proposal(s) should be forwarded to the Teaching and Learning Committee for approval.
