Tuks' LJ van Zyl on Sunday relinquished his Commonwealth Games 400m hurdles title to Dai Greene but the Welshman had to work for Wales' first gold medal of the Games.

Young cancer patients get a high-tech public sector isolation room at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. This is probably Gauteng's first ever public facility of this nature.

Prof Johann Kirsten, Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, Extension and Rural Development at the University of Pretoria was recently honoured by the Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa (AEASA) to present the FR Tomlinson Commemorative Lecture for 2010. He also received a commemorative gold medal to celebrate this award.

The Vuka! Award for Best Newcomer went to the team from the University of Pretoria for their innovative animated PSA for the Jesuit Refugee Service, with its stirring message of fighting xenophobia by beating ignorance.

Potchefstroom?s Erhard Wolfaardt and Andrea Steyn of Pretoria won the final leg of the 2010 BSG Energade Triathlon Series at Big Bay, Boubergstrand in Cape Town on Sunday, December 5, to once again be crowed the competition?s senior champions.
