Prof Christof Heyns of the Faculty of Law at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, recently began a two-year mandate as the United Nations Special Rapporteur for Extrajudicial, Summary and Arbitrary Executions covering incidents of murder either by a government or in which a government fails to adequately investigate and prosecute such crimes.

World Kidney Day (WKD) is a global health awareness campaign focusing on the importance of our kidneys and reducing the frequency and impact of kidney disease and its associated health problems. The slogan for this year's campaign is Protect Your Kidneys and Save Your Heart. Two consultants at the University of Pretoria, Prof G van Biljon and Dr Patience Sigwadi, were invited by the National Kidney Foundation to participate in a schools outreach programme.
National Schools Moot Court Competition 2010/11

The first annual National Schools Moot Court Competition will take place at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg on National Human Rights Day, 21 March 2011. Teams from four schools in each of the nine provinces - a total of 72 learners - have been selected to take part in this groundbreaking event.
