Prof. Rüdiger Wolfrum will visit the Faculty of Law of the University of Pretoria (UP) on 26 and 27 January 2010. During this time he will deliver a public lecture on the topic: “Comparative Constitutional Analysis and Cultural Differences – Assessing the Approach of the South African Constitutional Court”.
UP’s Scientist Bags $US 100 000 from the African Union Scientific Awards Programme

Professor Pat Eriksson has won the Continental African Union Scientific Award (one of two awarded) comprising a medal and a certificate and $US 100 000 in the 2009 African Union Scientific Awards Programme. He was a candidate in the category of Physical and Earth Sciences. On 31 January 2010, he will be attending an award ceremony during the AU’s Summit Assembly of the Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Prof Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor & Principal and Toby Sutcliffe, CEO of hpc personally welcomed Diego Maradona at the hpc and accompanied him on his inspection tour of the facilities, which will be "home" to him and his team during the World Cup later this year.

A Swiss physical chemist, Professor Richard Robert Ernst will deliver a lecture at the University of Pretoria. He is an emeritus professor at ETH Zurich and his lecture will be on “Fascinating Insights in Chemistry, Biology and Medicine by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance”.
