The University of Pretoria is the first institution in South Africa to acquire a Cone Beam Computerised Tomography - Vatech CBCT. The scanner has recently been introduced in UP's School of Dentistry and will be used for producing diagnostic imaging techniques in medicine and dentistry such as x-rays and ultrasound.

Former coach of Tuks Wrestling, Dries van Heerden, will not in future re-assume any of his previous duties at the University of Pretoria. Contrary to media reports that Van Heerden will join TuksSport again in his capacity as coach he will have no ties with the university.

BCom(Hons) Economics and BCom(Hons) Econometrics students from the University of Pretoria are participating in the Emerging Markets and Country Risk Analysis Program that is part of a UP/Fordham institutional agreement. These students are currently in New York and are sponsored by the Consul General of South Africa, that is based in New York, the South African Reserve Bank, the University of Pretoria and Fordham University.

The results of Part 1 of the Qualifying Examination (QE 1) of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) were released on Friday 28 May 2010 after being written in January for the first time in 2010. A total of 2921 candidates wrote the exam of which 1492 passed.
