Tuks has gone big this year with five CANSA Shavathons on four campuses, as you all know by now. Staff and students from Groenkloof Campus did their bit on Monday, 11 April 2011 and raised an amount of R 2 750!
CC&M wins silver at 15th PRISA PRISM Awards

The University of Pretoria was the proud recipient of a SILVER AWARD for their UP SPRING DAY CAMPAIGN in the category: Internal Communications at the PRISA PRISM Awards Ceremony in Cape Town. This was the highest accolade awarded in the category with Absa Bank and Liberty Group each receiving a bronze. Other entries in this category came from the City of Cape Town and Media24.
Minister Naledi Pandor opens International Tribology Conference at the University of Pretoria (UP)

The Minister of Science and Technology, Ms Naledi Pandor, opened the 10th International Tribology Conference, Tribology 2011, at the UP Conference Centre last week. The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of UP, Prof Cheryl de la Rey, welcomed the Minister and thanked her for the foresight that she had shown while serving in her previous portfolio, by investing money in education. The benefits are visible in the new Engineering Building on the UP Campus, currently nearing completion.
TuksAthletics : String of gold medals at SA Champs

The Tuks Athletics Club surely must be rated as the best club in the country after the weekend's South African Championships. Athletes from the club won a staggering 18 gold medals out of a possible 44.

During the week of 22 to 25 March 2011, Hans Hoheisen Wildlife Research Station (HHWRS), managed by the Faculty of Veterinary Science, hosted various international meetings of the EpiSTIS project in its recently upgraded auditorium and boardroom/library. These meetings included an Open Science Day, a training workshop as well as the Project's final review meeting.
New ACGT manager takes the reins

The African Centre for Gene Technologies (ACGT) partner institutions has appointed Dr John Becker as the new manager of the Centre. Dr Becker took over from Dr Jane Morris, who announced her retirement as the Centre's Director last year after serving in the position since the inception of the ACGT.
