UP and Argentinian MoU

The University of Pretoria and the National Institute for Agricultural Technologies (INTA) of the Argentine Republic signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Pretoria on 16 July 2009 during a visit by Argentinian agriculture researchers to South Africa in July this year.

UP Drama Department, is producing the play "I Am A Camera" by John van Druten, on which the musical Cabaret was based. The production features Christopher Isherwood’s Berlin Diary of the 1930’s, and although not a musical, the action will be interspersed with music from that era.

Farewell to Vice-Chancellor

The Council of the University of Pretoria, the Senate and the Institutional Forum recently bade farewell to the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria, Prof Calie Pistorius. He will be taking up the Vice-Chancellor position at Hull University in the UK. With him is Ms Futhi Mtoba, Chairperson of the Council.

The World Swimming Championships started in Rome on Saturday 18 July, and as expected Tuks and the hpc are well represented in the South African Team with Roland Schoeman heading up that list. Included are also up and coming youngsters Darren Murray, Thabang Moeketsane and William Diering.
