Bertus Ras, Franco Megannon and Marinet Vorster, all participants in the UP Archives Q-photo photographic workshops and competition, received international acclaim in the recent International Inter-University Photography Exhibition (IIUPE) held in Bangladesh.

On Tuesday 5 October, the University of Pretoria (UP), in conjunction with the Mail&Guardian newspaper, launched its Public Conversations: 2010 series with the debate: "Are Media Restrictions Necessary?" The debate was held at 17:30 in the Sanlam Auditorium in the Conference Centre on UP's Hatfield Campus. Dennis Davis, the renowned judge and public intellectual, joined a panel consisting of Zizi Kodwa, President Jacob Zuma's spokesperson, Joe Thloloe, the Press Ombudsman and Nic Dawes, editor of the Mail&Guardian. The discussion was chaired by Prof Christof Heyns, Dean of the School of Law at the UP.
University of Pretoria scoops the PMR.Africa award

The University of Pretoria has been awarded the Golden Award (second overall) by the PMR.Africa Company during the Pretoria/Tshwane Municipal District Leaders and Achievers Awards held yesterday (05-10-2010) at the Pretoria Country Club. The award came as a result of a research process whereby companies and institutions are rated based on respondents'perceptions with a strong focus on evaluating and measuring customer service and satisfaction.
University of Pretoria's Centre for Human Rights participates at the 19th African Human Rights Moot Court Competition

The University of Pretoria's Centre for Human rights each year organises the African Human Rights Moot Court Competition in partnership with a faculty of law at different universities in Africa. The aim of the moot is to foster a generation of African lawyers who are knowledgeable and competent to submit cases to and present arguments before the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.

Tuks' number 1 squash player, Cheyna Tucker has been selected as a member of the South African Senior squash team to participate in the World Women's Squash Championships being held in Palmerstone, New Zealand at the end of November 2010.
