TuksNetball : Meet the best player in South Africa
Posted on 10 September 2010
It is official - Tuks' Erin Burger is the best netball player in the country.
Erin, one of three Tuks players in the current Protea squad, was voted Player of the Tournament at the Africa Qualifying Games contested at the Mamelodi Campus this week.
South Africa won all three their matches.
Erin, who plays centre, was also named Player of the Tournament at the recent SPAR National Netball Championships in Potchefstroom.
"That makes her the best netball player in South Africa - without any doubt," said a very proud Jenny van Dyk, TuksNetball Manager.
Short on Erin's heels was Tuks' Leigh-Ann Zackey (GD), who can now rightly claim to be the best defender in the country as she got this award at both the Africa Qulaifying Games and SPAR National Netball Championships. Her brilliant performance at the Africa Qualifying Games coincided with her 50th test match for the Proteas.
Tuks third member in the Protea squad, goal keeper Amanda Mynhardt also had a great tournament and played in every quarter of every match.
Erin, Leigh-Ann and Amanda will represent South Africa at the Commonwealth Games in India in October.
