Tuks are back in business in the Carlton Cup League after beating Centurion 33-19 (halftime 25-12) at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday (8 April).

Tuks worked harder for their win than the score line indicates, but they were always the better team, outscoring Centurion by 4 tries to 3.

The new look Tuks team played enterprising rugby and impressed with the high standard of inter play between backs and forwards.

Tuks struck hard and fast in the first half with tries by Fanie Booysen (fullback) and right wing Hein Pretorius. Tuks never looked back after building up a handy lead of 15-0.

Tuks lost some momentum in the second half after captain and lock Johan de Bruin was yellow carded for a professional foul, but was quick to retake the initiative with Pretorius’ second try.

Tuks’ other points came through a classic centre try by Franco Booysen and two conversions and three penalty goals by rookie fly half Stanley Twiname.
