TuksRugby : Varsity Cup expectations high after another Tuks 1 double
Posted on 25 January 2011
It is far too early to start counting the proverbial chickens, but even so Tuks look set for a much better performance in the 2011 FNB Varsity Cup competition.
On Saturday (22 January) Tuks had little trouble in beating Police and Centurion emphatically in warm up matches.
It was obvious that Tuks were fitter, better conditioned and match sharper than their opponents, but that is not to dampen the good and constructive play that resulted in two very good wins.
There can be little doubt that Tuks are much better off than last season when they had a disastrous run, ending sixth on the log.
Tuks have more talent, depth and are a much more professional outfit in every way.
Tuks’ last warm matches take place in Saturday (29 January) in the Barnard Stadium, Kempton Park. The first match is against Springs (15:00) and the second against the Valke’s Vodacom Cup side (17:00 kick-off).
