Gus Mills (BSc(Hons), MSc, PhD) has recently launched a book entitled Hyena Nights and Kalahari Days, published by Jacana Media. The book deals with the hyenas of the Kalahari, where he did extensive research.
Lodewyk (Don) Turvey (BEng Mining Engineering) has been appointed as the inaugural CEO of Continental Coal. He has more than 25 years’ experience in and knowledge of the South African mining industry and has held several senior management positions. He also holds a master’s degree in business leadership from Unisa and serves on the advisory board of the Department of Mining Engineering at UP.
Prof Mandla Makhanya (DPhil Sociology) has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of South Africa. He will succeed Prof Barney Pityana. In addition to the qualification he earned at UP, Prof Makhanya completed a management programme at Harvard Business School.

Luckson Mujati (MSc Project Management, 2009) is the new country manager of SSI Engineers and Environmental Consultants’ Zimbabwe office. Luckson has worked for SSI since 2007 as an airports engineer responsible for managing local and multinational projects and maintenance works throughout Africa. Recently he worked on several strategic aviation planning and aviation-related projects for the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Cuthbert Mamabolo (BSc, 2002; MSc Agric, 2008; PDBA, 2008) joined Novus International as regional technical marketing manager for Southern Africa. He and his team render technical support to the distributors, agents and key customers for methionine and specialty products. Novus is an international developer of animal health and nutrition programmes.
Chamonix Terblanche was selected as student representative at the University Council of the Curtin University in Australia for the term 1 January 2011 to 31 December 2011. Chamonix is currently doing her PhD at this university and acts as alumni representative in that part of Australia. The University Council consists of 17 members, nine of whom are selected from Curtin and eight from outside the university. Curtin University is the biggest university in Western Australia and the second biggest international university in Australia, and currently has 45 000 students.
Professor Emeritus Koos van Staden was the honorary president of the jury of the Pro Invent 2010 fair that was held in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, in March 2010. Over 80 exhibitors presented some 400 inventions that had been patented or had patents pending. The second volume of the Romanian Contemporary Inventors' Dictionary was launched at the fair.

Eugene Cussons is well known as a rescuer of chimpanzees and director of the Jane Goodall Institute, Chimp Eden, a private reserve just outside Nelspruit. He is also known for his television programmes, Escape to ChimpEden 1 and 2, for which a team of cameramen followed him all over the world as he rescued threatened animals from desperate situations.
Ula Rademeyer (BA Information Design) recently received the sought-after Visual Effects Society Awards (VES Awards) for her creative work on the fim Avatar, winner of three Oscar Awards, including the Oscar for Visual Effects. The VES Awards are the most prestigious that are made every year as forerunners of the Oscars. Ula was one of the four members of the team who worked on the special effects. She concentrated particularly on the new digital plant kingdom of Pandora. She is chief texture painter at Weta Digital, a visual effects studio in Wellington, New Zealand.
Dr Chris Mulder (BSc) is the masterbrain behind the development of the Crossway Farm Village concept that is being planned for construction close to the edge of the Van Stadens River precipice near Port Elizabeth. Chris is one of the main shareholders of the concept, which will be the first of its kind in South Africa to be built on such a scale. He obtained his doctorate in environmental planning and town development at the College for Architecture in the USA in 1980. The Crossways Farm Village will have about 780 residential units that cover almost the entire income and housing spectrum. It will be situated on both sides of the N2 and will form part of an existing dairy farm.

He has also been, among others, Managing Director of Kloof Mines, MD of Gold Fields Free State Mines, Vice-President and Head of Operations at Beatrix Gold Mine, and Vice-President and Head of Operations at Kloof Gold Mine.
Lodewyk "Don" Turvey (BEng Mining Engineering) has been appointed by Continental Coal as its inaugural CEO. He has more than 25 years' experience in and knowledge of the South African mining industry. Prior to his appointment at Continental Coal, he held the position of CEO of Scinta Holdings for two years, where he was responsible for the growth of the coal business in South Africa, southern Africa and other key supply regions. He also serves on the University of Pretoria Mining Advisory Council.
Dr Herman van Schalkwyk (MBChB, 1960) was recently recognised at a national level for his outstanding contribution as a medical practitioner by means of a special tribute by the South African Medical Association (SAMA) for exceptional services rendered over more than three decades. He was, among others, president of the Free State Medical Association for three terms and he was a member of SAMA's committee for human rights, law and ethics for six years. He was a member of one of the first group of medical practitioners who obtained their master's degrees in family medicine at UP.
Adolf Venter (BCom(Hons)) has been appointed the new chief executive of the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, after serving as the acting chief executive since December 2009. Venter joined Gallagher in May 2009 as financial manager, after working in the same role in the mining industry in various African countries.
Jeanetta Selier (BSc Agric, 1995; BSc(Hons) Wildlife Management, 1998; MSc, 2007) is the resident biologist of the Mashatu Game Reserve in Botswana. She has studied the behaviour of translocated elephants in the Mabula Game Reserve and has had nine years' experience with elephants in the Tuli Block in Botswana.
Dr Etienne Hugo (BLC,1993; LLB, 1995; LLD Private Law, 2000) is a Sydney-based lawyer born in South Africa with accreditation as a specialist in Australian immigration law. He is registered as an advocate in South Africa and as a legal practitioner in the New South Wales High Court of Australia, as well as a migration agent. He is also a lecturer at the Australian National University.
Leon Versefeld (BLC, 1996; LLB,1998) is an advocate in South Africa and is currently practising as an attorney in Kansas, Missouri, in the USA, specialising in United States immigration law.
Estelle Kriek (BA(Hons) Drama, cum laude, 2005) and Charles Bouguenon (BA Drama) are part of the stage show The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which will once again be presented in Pretoria during May 2010. Estelle plays the role of the innocent and naïve Janet Weiss, while Charles plays the role of Dr Frank N Furter, the loveable psychotic transvestite from another planet.
Dr Boitumelo Semete-Makokotlela(BSc Genetics, 2004; BSc(Hons), 2005) is a researcher at the CSIR, where she is part of a team that is working on nano-drug delivery systems for anti-tuberculosis (TB) medications. She also holds a PhD from Northwest University.
Hannes Horne (BA(Hons) Drama, 1968; MA, 1970) is a well-known actor, voice artist, director and leading theatre personality who was also a drama lecturer at UP where he trained many of today’s famous South African actors. Hannes studied under the famous Anna Neethling-Pohl and became a household name, face and voice in Pretoria and South Africa between 1968 and 1980.

Dr Theo de Jager (BA(Hons), 1985; MA, 1986; DPhil,1989) is vice-president of Agri SA in Pretoria. Theo is also a qualified auctioneer, property evaluator, appraiser and principal of property agencies, and a pilot. Furthermore, he is a farmer in Georges Valley near Tzaneen, where he produces eucalyptus, avocados and litchis, and he also farms with Nguni cattle.
Neil Claasen (BCom Hotel and Tourism Management, 1994) has joined Fujitsu Services South Africa as financial director. He is not new to the Fujitsu group, as he was a financial director for Fujitsu Siemens Computers SA from 2001 to 2007, and the regional financial director for Fujitsu Siemens MEA from 2008. He spent the next three years in Germany as part of Siemens's management development programme.

Izak Petrus (Peet) du Plooy (BEng Mechanical, 1997) is a trade and investment advisor at the World Wildlife Fund. He has been identified by the Mail & Guardian as one of the 300 young South Africans to take out to lunch. He became trade and investment advisor to the local arm of the World Wildlife Fund in 2004.
Dr Ntavhanyeni Phaswana (BA(Hons), 1995; MA Bible Science, 1997; MA Practical Theology,2008) recently received qualifications from two different universities when he obtained his Marriage Officer Diploma from Unisa and his second master’s degree in practical theology from UP. He is also a director of Bo-die-Krans Lodge, Paradise Maname Independent School, Ntavhanyeni Business Enterprise and Machaka Learning Academy. Ntavhanyeni obtained a doctorate in literature and philosophy from Unisa in 2000.

Piet Muller (BSc Agric, 1978; BSc(Hons) Agric, 1979; BInstAgrar(Hons), 1980) is a leading farmer of the Amana Farm in Levubu and the chairperson of Subtrop, the overarching producers’ association of the avocado, litchi, mango and macadamia industry. He is also chairperson of the South African Macadamia Producers’ Association (SAMPA) and has recently been appointed as the new chairperson of the South African Avocado Producers’ Association (SAAPA).
Charl du Plessis (BMus, 1999; BMus(Hons), 2000; MMus, 2003; DMus, 2009), Nataniël’s accompanist and pianist since 2000, recently obtained his doctorate at the University of Pretoria. He has also recently released his second album, Piano Man. Charl started his solo career at the beginning of 2007 with the show Pianist Monologues, and he is currently viewed as one of the most versatile local pianists.
Joshua Chimakula Ngoma (MEng Project Management, 2001) is one of the founding members, and chief executive officer of the Tranter Group of Companies. He was born in Chipata (formerly known as Fort Jameson) in the eastern part of Zambia. He obtained a degree in mining engineering from Camborne School of Mines in the southwest of England in 1988, and a master’s degree in project management from the University of Pretoria in 2001.
Liesbeth Schlumberger-Kurpershoek (Dip Music, 1985; Dip Church Music, 1985; BMus, 1985; BMus(Hons), 1986) commenced her studies while still at school with the late Prof Stephanus Zondagh at UP. In 1985, she won both the SABC Music Prize and the Unisa Overseas Study Bursary, which enabled her to study organ under Marie-Claire Alain at the Conservatoire National de Rueil-Mailmaison and harpsichord with Huguette Dreyfuss. She won the first prize in the International Organ Competition held in Bordeaux in 1989. She was later appointed assistant professor to Jean Boyer at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Lyon, France, in 1996.
Dr Elize Strydom (BA Law, 1978; LLB, 1980) is the industrial relations advisor and chief negotiator of the Chamber of Mines and has been nominated as the new chairperson of Socpol at Business Unity South Africa (BUSA). Elize also holds LLM and LLD degrees from the University of South Africa. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

Theuns Jansen, stigter en senior vennoot van Jansen en Jansen Prokureurs in Polokwane het onlangs sy vyftigste jaar in die regsbedryf gevier. Derrick Anderson (BA Drama) is a upcoming actor singer who played the role of Keno in The Full Monty – the Broadway Musical which was on stage at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre towards the end of 2008. Merryl Monard (BMus) (2004) is a former AKV-Muzig overall winner (2007) (flute). She also won Best Interpretation of a South African Work (second round), Best Interpretation of a Baroque Work and Best Wind Player. After BMus she went on to complete a Master of Music at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in The Netherlands before returning to South Africa. Here she was recently the Principle Flute for the hit musical The Lion King and also plays for the Johannesburg Philharmonic Orchestra. Chris du Toit (BA) is an actor, director, scriptwriter, producer, teacher and lecturer who recently released his latest movie Hitchhiker on the South African movie scene. Chris spent five years in writing and just seven weeks in shooting the movie. The movie celebrates a young man’s cross-country journey to find the love of his life.

Dr Arnaud Malan (B. Eng, M.Eng. )(36), a principal researcher in computational aerodynamics at the CSIR, has landed a major research conract to help create more fuel-efficient airframe designs for the European aircraft giant Airbus. Arnaud has also been involved with research for Rolls-Royce, the SA Air Force and Kentron. He heads a group of South African aeronautical engineers in developing mathematical software that could assist Airbus to design next-generation aircraft that are lighter, more aerodynamic and more fuel-efficient.

Dr Christoffel (Cival) Mills (MB.ChB) is a medical researcher at Discovery Health who recently wrote his autobiography with the help of a spelling chart, a cell phone and with his left thumb. Dr Mills was left with a syndrome where although fully conscious, all the voluntary muscles of the body are completely paralysed, with the exception of the muscles conrolling eye movement, after a vehicle accident in 1999.

Dr Stephen van der Spuy (BChD) has been appointed the new Chief Executive of the Johannesburg Zoo. Stephen is a veterinarian with many years of experience of working with animals and the administration of animal facilities. He owned and managed the Exotic Animal Clinic at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Hospital prior to being appointed manager of the Montecasino Bird Park.
Dr Brighton Dzikiti (BChD) is the only black veterinary anaesthetist in South Africa and one of only a few such experts in the country.

Carel Minnaar (B.Agric) is Toyota/Agri SA’s 2007 Limpopo Young Farmer of the Year. He farms with his father on the Minaar farming enterprise which consists of three farms. Their main crop is citrus, but there are also other facets like cash crops, a transport fleet and an air-pressure drilling company. They also have game, mainly sable antelope and white rhinoceros on 1 000 ha of land. One of their biggest clients is Tesco Supermarkets in the UK. The business employs 300 permanent and about 1 000 seasonal workers.
Christine Leighton (MSc Consumer Science) is a researcher of the Sensory Analysis Unit at the Agricultural Research Council in Irene, Pretoria. She was the first recipient of the SAAFoST travel bursary which helped her attend the 7th Pangborn Sensory Science Symposium in Minneapolis, USA last year.

Joost van der Westhuizen (B.Ed, 1992), well-known Springbok rugby captain, has recently been appointed as chief operations officer for Progressive Investment Holdings, Ltd. (PIH). He will be responsible for managing and supervising all PIH operations and projects and will also form part of the company’s board of directors.
Lucinda van Rensburg (BLC, LLB) is the managing director of Implex Legal Compliance Solutions. Hannes Pickard (B.Comm Marketing) is the CEO of Retail Africa and the master mind behind the unique new Irene Village Mall in Centurion, Pretoria. Danie Putter (BA Drama, 2007) is a young actor from Pretoria who is making his mark on stage and screen with recent roles in 7de Laan and Egoli and also the theatre production Houtkruis. He has an impressive performance list including Die Dagboek van Anna Frank, Puppet Love, Black Persia and short film credits such as Grenspos, Gamble and Rising Tide. He spare time is spent in the outdoors in nature and outdoor adventure sports.
Dr Vinesan Naidoo completed his Doctorate in Veterinay Pharmacology at UP in 2007. He also completed his Masters studies in the same are of study at UP cum laude in 2004 and was declared the young researcher of the year for the Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2007.
Theuns Jansen, stigter en senior vennoot van Jansen en Jansen Prokureurs in Polokwane het onlangs sy vyftigste jaar in die regsbedryf gevier. Hy was destyds die tweede jong man van die dorp wat sy regstudies aan UP voltooi het en was van 1951 tot 1955 by Tukkies waarna hy sy kandidaatprokureurskap by Moss, Cohen en Meyer op Polokwane voltooi het. In November 1998 het hy en sy twee seuns Jansen en Jansen Prokureurs gestig het.
Judge Deon van Zyl (LLB, MA, Dr Jur, PhD, LLD D Litt (Latin) (Laureate 1992) a member and past president of the Gordon’s Bay Rotary Club was recently elected as Assistant Governor for nine Rotary Clubs in the district. He is also a nominee for the position of District Governor in 2009/10 and 2010/11. He was professor at the University of the Free State, UP and also studied at the universities of Paris and Hamburg. He served as visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh for a number of years. He has been a judge of the Cape Provincial Division of the High Court sinde 1994.
Monique Burger (B.Com & B.Com Honours Marketing, 2001) is brand manager for House of Coffees and Ciro coffee brands. After her Honours Monique completed the graduate programme at National Brands Ltd., currently known as AVI Ltd. in Bryanston. Dr Eduard Vorster (B.Eng Civil, Hons.) (magna cum laude) is Technical Director (Geotechnical Engineering) of the Engineering company, Africon’s Municipal Development Business Unit. He received several awards during his study, amongst others, the UP Department of Civil Engineering’s silver medal and the SAICE’s Barry van Wyk Award for the best final-year project in geotechnical engineering. He received at Cambridge MIT Institute (CMI) scholarship and completed his PhD in Engineering (Geotechnical) at Cambridge in 2005. He received the University’s Turner Prize for research excellence and had the opportunity to work, as part of a team, with London Undergroung monitoring the effect of tunnelling. Eduard also works on the geotechnical investigation and design of the Gautrain Rapid Railway Link.
Theoline Jordaan (M, Technology Management) is currently a consultant at Breakthrough Management Group (BMG), a business performance improvement consultancy. She previously spent two years with an automotive manufacturer as a business improvement engineer.

Natalie Zimmelman (MBA) works at the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants where she focuses on the delivery of skills development. She obtained her MBA from Gibs and moved to FASSET, the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) for finance, accounting, management consulting and other financial services in her second year of her MBA. Here she mainly focused on the funding of skills development projects.

Gonda Melck is Langebaan’s beloved veterinary surgeon. Her small practice has grown into a registered, proper veterinary hospital, an adjoining grooming parlour, five star kennels and cattery and a clinic in Velddrif. Her graduation some years ago was a fulfilment of a life-long dream of healing animals in the Cape region from where she originates.
Owen Buchanan (M.I.S.) is Treverton College’s IT Instructor and Co-ordinator and was recently selected as one of the top 20 finalists in the Innovative Teachers Forum Competition. He teaches Computers and Technology to Grade Eight and Nine as well as tuition for the ICDL Diploma to students.
Helena Hugo (BA Fine Arts) has since graduation become a full-time artist preferring media such as oil and charcoal. She has also recently worked a lot with pastels, specialising in painting, figurative drawing and portraiture.

Brian Geyer (B.IT) is a programmer analyst at the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim. His job is to receive and analyse data from various sources to turn it into information which manager can use to base decisions on.
Claude Ibalanky (M. Business & Marketing)is the Head of Corporate Affairs and Marketing at HP South Africa. Claude was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was forced to flee the country during the height of political unrest. He headed for Europe, but after flight delays, ended up in South Africa.
Funani Molono (BSc, Mechanical Engineering) is the MD of Collect-a-can since November 2006. He was a former process engineer at Nampak, a shareholder of Collect-a-can.
Larika Robbb (BChD) het in 2007 haar gemeenskapjaar as tandarts verrig by die kliniek van die staatshospitaal in Vrede, KwaZulu-Natal. Sy is ‘n boorling van die Vrystaat wat op Newcastle in KwaZulu-Natal grootgeword het. Sy begin vroeg in 2008 as vennoot in ‘n plaaslike privaattandartspraktyk in Newcastle werk.

Johan Botes (B.Mus) recently won the third Unisa National Piano Competition where he performed Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto. He is currently completing his MMus at UP and will participate in the 11th Unisa International Piano competition. His music career started at the age of 5 when he filled bottles of water and tapped them to create music.
Prof Otto Müller (MbChB) het die Farmovs-prys vir farmakologie en geneesmiddels ontvang vir sy voortreflike bydrae to farmakologie en geneesmiddel-ontwikkeling. Hy is ook deur die Britse maatskappy Oxford Bioscience gekontrakteer om hulle by te staan met navorsing in biotegnologie. Otto was hoogleraar in farmakologie aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat vir 26 jaar.
Ms Duduzile Zwane (Hons. Social Welfare) is the newly appointed programme manager at Child Welfare SA in Kempton Park. Born in Swaziland Duduzile began her career in social work in Zimbabwe after which she worked for the Swaziland government. She went to England for a year and worked for several child care and welfare service organisations in South Africa on her return.
Sias du Plessis (BA) is the sports anchor on Gareth Cliff’s 5Fm morning show on radio. He also started television work in 2005 as a presenter on the SuperSport Update Channel. Sias started his career in broadcasting at Tuks FM where he worked for three years.
Carel Minnaar (B Agric) was ‘n finalis en Agri Limpopo se aanspraakmaker op Toyota se Jongboer van die Jaar-titel 2007. Hy het ‘n passie vir boerdery en boer saam met sy pa op PA Minnaar-boerdery se grond in die Constantia-gebied langs die Letabarivier, noordoos van Tzaneen. Die Minnaars boer op meer as 3 000 ha grond met sitrus, mango’s, groente en wild wat boonop ondersteun word deur ‘n vervoermaatskappy en ‘n boormaatskappy.
Lullu de Jager (B.Agric, Hons) het onlangs na ‘n halfeeu in die landbou waarvan ‘n kwarteeu by Vrystaat Landbou (VL) was, afgetree. Vrystaat Landbou het hom ook onlangs met ‘n oorkonde vereer vir sy jarelange bydrae tot die Suid-Afrikaanse en Vrystaatse landbou. Verskeie boereverenigings en ander boere-organisasies het hom ook reeds vereer.
Alex van Houwelingen (BA Inligtingsontwerp) is ‘n vryskut-illustreerder wat elke maand ‘n oorspronklike spotprent vir die Eastern Nuus-koerant teken. Hy gee ook vanaf 2001 kunsklasse en skilder ook soms met olieverf.
Rene Stucki (B.Cur) works at the Rosebank Hospital as senior sister in the intensive care unit and rehabilitation wards. She also obtained a B.Com degree in nursing education and administration from Unisa.
Heinrich Wolff (B.Arch) of Noero Wolff Architects is a previous recipient of the Lubetkin Award from the internationally acclaimed Royal Institute of British Architects for the best building built outside the European Union as well as the Daimler Chrysler Award for South African architecture.
Martjie Bosman is ‘n skrywer wat sedert 1990 gereeld gedigte in literêre tydskrifte publiseer het en in 2003 debuteer het met die bundel Landelik waarvoor sy die Ingrid Jonkerprys ontvang het. Daar het ook verskeie artikels en ander publikasies uit haar pen verskyn.
Michelle Veenemans (MA in Duits) is ‘n operasangeres wat dikwels in Suid-Afrika optree. Na haar studies het sy Duitsland toe gegaan en onder meer aan ‘n musiekskool in Bonn studeer. Sy is ook ‘n dosent in Duits en vertaler.
Paula Sartini (B.Com, M.Com (Marketing) is the managing director of Espiál BRANDING & DESIGN and was recently recognized as one of South Africa’s Top 10 leading managers (Annual Corporate Research Foundation Publication), as well as being the only woman in the top 10 - ranked ninth overall. During 2006, Financial Mail and FinWeek awarded Espial (the brand design agency which she started with her husband 8 years ago), Brand Design Agency of the year for 2006.
Jeanne-Louise Moolman (B.Mus, B.Mus (Hons) is onlangs in die musiekdepartement van die Universiteit van die Vrystaat aangestel. Sy het onder Alan Solomon aan UP studeer en onder meer leieraltviolis van COSA en het ook gereeld in die Johannesburg-feesorkes en die Johannesburg Filharmoniese Orkes gespeel.
Charles Bouguenon (B.A.Drama) and Michelle Botha (B.A. Drama Hons) are part of the cast of the Rodgers & Hammerstein Musical The King and I currently on at the Civic Theatre in Johannesburg. Charles performs the part of Phra Alack and Michelle is Lady Thiang in the musical.
Murray Booth (B.Com Marketing Management) is the brand manager of Baby Soft at Kimberley-Clark. He was recently involved in a Baby Soft campaign which raised money for the South African Guide Dog Association.
Dr Craig Golding (MbChB) did his under- and post graduate degrees at UP and has been practicing as a commercial physician for eight years. He recently qualified as an anti-ageing physician in the US where he also completed two degrees.

Lodewyk Ferreira (B. Com Acc.) was recently appointed as new Chief Financial Officer of the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF). Lodewyk is one of four executive members who were selected by the Minister of Labour in 2004 to help turn around the poorly performing fund. Lodewyk has contribute greatly to the financial success of the fund over the past two years.

Elma Louw (BA & Hons (Sielkunde) het onlangs ‘n bestuurposisie in Londen aanvaar. Sy was tot onlangs by ‘n kliniese navorsingsorganisasie betrokke waar sy na gehaltebeheer en die ouditering van kliniese studies gekyk het. Elma het die gebruik van haar bene tydens haar eerstejaar aan UP na ‘n motorongeluk verloor. ‘n Jaar na die ongeluk het sy teruggekeer na die kampus en koshuis toe om haar studies te voltooi.
Chris du Toit (BA) is an actor, director, scriptwriter, producer, teacher and lecturer who recently released his latest movie Hitchhiker on the South African movie scene. Chris spent five years in writing and just seven weeks in shooting the movie. The movie celebrates a young man’s cross-country journey to find the love of his life.
Bonné de Bod (BA Psychology) is an actress and model who is slowly but surely building her profile in the entertainment industry. She had a small part in the Afrikaans soapie Villa Rosa and is also featured in Coca Cola’s current Brrrrr Summer campaign.
Dr Arnaud Malan (B. Eng, M.Eng. )(36), a principal researcher in computational aerodynamics at the CSIR, has landed a major research conract to help create more fuel-efficient airframe designs for the European aircraft giant Airbus. Arnaud has also been involved with research for Rolls-Royce, the SA Air Force and Kentron. He heads a group of South African aeronautical engineers in developing mathematical software that could assist Airbus to design next-generation aircraft that are lighter, more aerodynamic and more fuel-efficient.
Lynita Crofford (BA Drama) is ‘n veelsydige aktrise wat al vir radio, TV, rolprente en op die verhoog gewerk het en ook nuuslees, TV-aanbieding, kommersiële stemwerk en klasgee gedoen het. Sy het tot onlangs die rol van die verleidster Glenn in Isidingo gespeel.
Ryan Johnson (BSc, Masters, PhD) is an expert and researcher of great white sharks who also opened the SA Marine Predator Lab in Mossel Bay recently. He is also involved in the writing and presenting of documentaries about sharks.
Ben Schoeman (B.Mus) het onlangs die eerste Suid-Afrikaner geword om die gesogte Unisa Internasionale Klavierkompetisie te wen toe hy die 11de Vodacom-Unisa-Internasionale Klavierkompetisie in Pretoria gewen het. Ben studeer tans aan die Klavier-akademie in Imola, Italië.
Prof JW (Pretorius) Heuchert (BA, 1981, BA -Hons, 1983; Sielkunde) is onlangs van Mede-professor tot Professor in Sielkunde bevorder by Allegheny College in die VSA. Hy is 'n kliniese sielkundige wie (hoofsaaklik) psigopatologie doseer, doen navorsing oor gemoedstoestande met die POMS (Profile of Mood States - waarvan hy tans 'n mede-outeur is), en dien as redakteur van Peace Psychology vir die Amerikaanse Sielkunde Vereniging se afdeling vir vredespsigologie (Division 48) - jw.heuchert@allegheny.edu.
