Tuks won the inaugural Yellow Pages Inter Club Athletics Championships held at the ABSA TUKS Stadium on Thursday, 5 April.
The Tuks athletes were at the top of their form as they fought off the assault from seven other clubs to walk away with the first prize of R100 000.
Although there were many top performances on the night, one of the highlights was undoubtedly provided by Tuks's LJ van Zyl, who won the 400 m hurdles in the last event of the evening. With a time of 49.42 s, he became the most recent athlete to qualify for the Olympic Games in London.
Despite having initially faced a tough onslaught from the PUKKE, Tuks won convincingly in the end.
The final scores were:
1 TUKS 133.5
2 NWU-PUKKE 115
3 Kovsies 98.5
4 UJ 88
5 Maties 85
6 Tygerberg-Northlink 76
7 Bellville 75.5
8 NMMU 49.5
