TuksAthletics could not have asked for more than a full set of World Championships medals.
That is how TuksAthtletics’ manager Hennie Kriel commented on Monday, 24 August after Tuks athletes won three medals at the 12th IAAF World Championships which concluded in Berlin on Sunday, 24 August.
18 year old Caster Semnya won gold in the 800 for women (1:55.45), Khotso Makoena silver in the long jump for men (8.47) and Karen Mey Melis bronze in the long jump for women (6.80).
Karen represented Turkey and not South Africa, but she is a registered Tuks athlete who does most of her training at the Absa Tuks Stadium.
“We are very proud of our athletes,” added Hennie.
