Posted on 06 September 2010
What do a group of pirates, undertakers, jockeys, bell-boys and army troups have in common? They were in Stellenbosch this weekend to represent five universities in the National Serenade Competition 2010!
Vividus Ladies and Zeus Men were proud ambassadors of Tuks at this event which has become a highlight on the University’s cultural calendar.
Of all ten teams that participated, Zeus Men won the Best Spirit Award. The prize is a party to the value of R50 000 with the band of their choice, sponsored by MK.
Zeus came third overall and also won third places for their own composition and their musical interpretation of the prescribed song.
The winners were:
- Veritas, University of the Free State
- Afslaan, University of Johannesburg
- Zeus, University of Pretoria
- Vergeet-My-Nie, North-West University
- Lebone, University of Johannesburg
- Sonop, Stellenbosch University
Stuku, Vividus Ladies and Zeus Men would like to thank the University, and in particular Prof Cheryl de la Rey, for the financial support to make their participation possible.
Stay tuned to MK for a television broadcast of all the Serenade-action in Stellenbosch (14 September 2010, 19:30, Channel 324).
