Die Departement Kommunikasiepatologie bied wêreldklas opleiding vir 'n professionele kwalifikasie in oudiologie of spraak-taalterapie. Nagraadse grade met spesialisering in navorsing word onder leiding van ervare akademiese personeel aangebied.

Wat is 'n oudioloog?

Oudioloë is professionele mense wat onafhanklike praktyke bedryf om gesonde gehoor, kommunikasievermoëns en lewenskwaliteit vir mense van alle ouderdomme te bevorder deur die voorkoming, identifikasie, assessering en rehabilitasie van gehoor, ouditiewe funksies, balans en ander verwante sisteme (ASHA, 2004).

Wat is 'n spraak-taalterapeut?

Die beoefening van spraak-taalpatologie sluit in voorkoming, diagnose, habilitasie en rehabilitasie van siektes in die kommunikasie-, sluk- of ander boonste spysverteringsholtes, gekose verandering van kommunikasiegedrag en versterking van kommunikasie (ASHA, 2001).

World Kangaroo Mother Care Day celebrated by final year students - 21/05/2013

Staff and students from the Department of Communication Pathology at the University of Pretoria are involved in one of the most important evidence-based interventions for preterm and low birth weight babies in the world. The final year students are participating in Kalafong Hospital as audiologists and speech-language therapists in this very effective neonatal method to care for preterm and low birth weight babies.
