The South African Table Tennis Union (SATTU) was formed in 1939 and the South African Table Tennis Board (SATTB) in 1948.These two organisations amalgamated in 1991, becoming a single controlling body for table tennis in South Africa . Since then table tennis is played in all of the nine provinces of South Africa and the table tennis body continues to strive for:

  • effective partnerships with regional affiliates;
  • sport recreation in South Africa ;
  • provincial departments of sport, recreation & education;
  • national lotteries distributing trust funds;
  • volunteers and sponsors;
  • the inclusion of disability sports disciplines into all programmes like coaching, administration and technical/umpire courses, as well as national championships;
  • a national academy programme.

Table tennis is a competitive sport which is also played socially and it therefore provides people of all age groups with the opportunity to make friends. If you are interested in joining a club or to play socially, you can visit our website - www.tabletennis.co.za - and go to About Us, then Affiliates, and you can access the relevant contact details.
