The National Tissue Bank of the University of Pretoria (NTB) is devoted to providing quality allograft products through a dedication to excellence in education, recovery, and processing while caring for recipients, donors and their families. We value and respect this most generous gift of tissue and strive to develop products that meet the needs of surgeons to be used to help their patients regain a better quality of life.

The NTB was founded to meet the need for a high quality and consistent allograft supply. From the beginning, we determined that quality must be our first priority. We maintain the largest and most complete inventory of musculoskeletal allografts available and insist on the highest standards achievable in our policies and procedures and technological operation.

 The National Tissue Bank's work is two-fold:

August is organ and tissue donor month

When would you consider being a tissue & organ donor

I lost a loved one due to an illness, where a transplant could have saved them, I only now realize the value of being a donor 5 (8.77%)

I would not consider being a donor 4 (7.02%)

I realize that to be a donor is a way of creating something positive from loss 23 (40.35%)

I have never considered being a donor but Im thinking about it 21 (36.84%)

I am not a donor because of my religious view 4 (7.02%)
