Partnering for infant hearing loss in South Africa

Researchers at the University of Pretoria's Department of Communication Pathology and the University of Ontario, Canada, are partnering for the Global Challenges Grant to address infant hearing loss in South Africa.
In South Africa, 6 000 babies are born every year with permanent hearing loss. Limited policy regarding management programmes and early hearing loss detection results in these children facing lifelong socioeconomic consequences. A collaborative knowledge translation framework is proposed to adapt Canadian programmes for early hearing loss intervention to South Africa.
This project is currently open for public voting when watching a two-minute video clip which forms part of the Global Challenges Canada grant process. If you like the idea, why not vote for it?
