The Yellow Pages Youth, Junior, U23 and Schools Track and Field Championships at Germiston allows for 17 Athletics SA provinces and nine South African Schools Athletics provinces to compete in one event.
If one takes into consideration that this is one of the platforms to expose our talented young Athletes against the best in the track and field events, our learners have done exceptionally well.
The results were as follow:
Youth Girls
Reabetswe Moloi - 100m - 8th - 12.55s (PB)
Calli Camacho - High Jump - 9th - 1.60m
Youth Boys
Jubilant Mothlake – Triple Jump - 2nd - 14.82m (PB); Long Jump - 6th - 6.90m(PB)
Duwayne Boer – Long Jump - 1st - 7.68m (PB); Triple Jump - 3rd - 14.72m
Thekgang Thulare - 55.66s (Heat)
Thando Roto - 100m - 10.82 (PB). Injured hamstring in Semi Final.
Junior Girls
Jade Roman -100m - 12.03 (PB) in the heats and 12.34s in Semi- Final.
Petunia Obisi - 400m - 6th - 57.13s; 200m - Semi Final - 25.12s
Junior Boys
Craig Canham - High Jump - 1st - 2.05m
Albert Janki - Triple Jump - 1st - 14.92; Long Jump - 2nd - 7.39m
Jacob Tseko - 3000sc - 12th - 10:17.21s; 1500m - Heats - 4:10.01s
