TuksGolf player and former SA Match Play Champion, Nobuhle Dlamini, carded a six under par 140 to win the Eastern Cape Stroke Play Championship by seven strokes, beating Nicole Loesch and Boland junior Bianca Theron in Port Elizabeth on Sunday, 5 February.
Playing in perfect conditions on the 73 par Port Elizabeth golf course, Nobuhle picked up the first provincial trophy of the year, carding 69, 71 (140) and will be hoping for a double as she commences match play.
In a field in which 20 of the 44 players in the championship were juniors (18 and under), some good scores were recorded on the course which was lengthened for the event.
Southern Cape’s Nicole Loesch carded 74, 73 (147) to tie in the runner-up position with 15-year old Bianca Theron who returned one under 72 and 75 (147). Izel Pieters from Mpumalanga finished fourth carding 75, 74 (149) and one stroke back was fellow teammate Alana van Greuning with 74, 76 (150). Ekurhuleni’s Nicole Garcia finished sixth on 76, 75 (151).
