As a people-orientated institution, we focus on developing students to become fully integrated individuals- be it academically or on the sports field.  TuksSport, the sports department of the University of Pretoria, has participation, management and coaching, both locally and internationally.  TuksSport offers a professional home for athletes and volunteers who participate in our programmes.  As a catalyst for sport development, TuksSport adds value and contributes towards sustainable sport programmes for the broader South African community.

TuksSport Going for medals at Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2014 - 25/07/2014

Besides our regular medal hopefuls in the pool, Roland Schoeman and Cameron van der Burgh, TuksSport have another swimming sensation, Karin Prinsloo. Karin is a registered Tuks swimming club member who has had some great form this year. In Glasgow she is hoping to add to her sterling performances in the recent Mare Nostrum event held across Europe in June. Here she won gold in the 200m Freestyle in the Monaco leg, and in the Barceloa leg Prinsloo added the women's 400m freestyle bronze medal and silver in the 200m freestyle.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games (officially the XX Commonwealth Games) are held in Glasgow, Scotland from 23 July to 3 August 2014. It is the third largest multi-sport event after the Olympics and the Asian Games, and it will be the largest multi-sport event ever held in Scotland. Around 4 560 athletes will be competing in 17 different sports.
