New Periodic Table in the Chemistry Building

The Department of Chemistry’s HOD, Prof Egmont Rohwer, initiated a campaign to transform the glass brick wall at the entrance to the Chemistry building into a Periodic Table. The effect is similar to a stained glass window, with the elements being illuminated from behind. Prof Rohwer said that it was an idea he has been considering for six years, as the number of rows and columns of glass bricks fit that required for the periodic table. “My dream has now become a reality”, he said, “Ideas for the other glass walls are welcome”.
