Welcome to the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Pretoria; the department and institution in South Africa where the first degree programme of Nursing in South Africa was instituted in 1956. Since its inception the Department has played a leading role in nursing education in South Africa. The department is therefore the pioneer in the nursing profession in South Africa, and trail blazing work is done to keep pace with new technology and changes in the profession. The Department of Nursing Science strives for excellence in its teaching and research programmes, and its focus is on the promotion of the intellectual, cultural and personal development of all its students

Dr Mmapheko Doricca Peu, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nursing was invited by the University of Ottawa, Canada to attend an Evidence Based Practice (EBP) workshop in education and clinical settings and STTI from 23 to 26 April 2013.
