Ms Carina du Toit

Position, academic and professional qualifications

Ms Du Toit is currently an attorney at the Centre for Child Law. She has BA LLB from the University of Stellenbosch and an LLM (Child Law) from the University of Pretoria. She is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa with right of appearance in the High Court and an extraordinary lecturer at the University of Pretoria's Law Faculty. 

Academic and professional experience

She started her career as a candidate attorney at the University of Pretoria Law Clinic and joined the Centre for Child Law in 2005 as an attorney and remains in that position to date. Ms Du Toit's duties at the Centre include managing and directing litigation, research, advocacy and involvement in law reform. In addition to assisting in cases where individual children are affected, Ms Du Toit is involved as attorney in Constitutional Court matters where groups or classes of children are concerned.

Her main areas of interest are: Children and the law and The Hague Convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction.
