But how does identity shape and strengthen people's commitments and provide a framework for the attainment of future goals? Which factors make people’s behaviour predictable and sustainable in the long run, and what are the consequences of commitment? These are the questions that Prof Salomé Human-Vogel aims to answer through her latest research on the factors that drive people to reach their goals, particularly those that play a role in how people regulate their own behaviour.

International association honours Prof Kobus Maree as distinguished psychologist - 25/07/2014

Professor Kobus Maree, professor in the Faculty of Education’s Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Pretoria (UP), was named a fellow of the International Association for Applied Psychology (IAAP) at its quadrennial international congress held in Paris during July. Some 4 500 psychologists from 100 countries attended the congress of this association founded in 1920.
