Long-term competitiveness is not a given when a tourism destination is offered the once-off opportunity to host a major international event.
However, when the mega-event is driven by a broader event strategy, managed by an appropriate and able leadership, and stakeholder roles have been sharply defined, many of the expected benefits should be achieved.
Aneesa Carrim, a graduate of UP’s Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, received the best marks and the only distinction for the first Tax Professional Knowledge Competency Assessment, which was written across South Africa at the end of 2013.
A pilot study was conducted by Prof Felicite Fairer-Wessels of the Tourism Management Division amongst selected non-profit visitor information centres (VIC) to determine whether the information managers have sufficient knowledge management capabilities in terms of tacit or explicit knowledge, the knowledge management information life cycle and knowledge management assets in terms of organisational processes.
The journey for the BComHons (Marketing Management) class of 2014 has officially begun and based on the first class, this group will not disappoint. The theme of the welcoming lecture was “MarketerChef 2014”.
