Mapungubwe Stories 19 to 24 May 2008
Posted on 22 May 2008
On 19 May 2008, the Department of Drama launched one of its most culturally significant productions of the year, a work that will stand out as part of the centenary celebrations of the University of Pretoria.
Prof Marie-Heleen Coetzee and the honours TIE (Theater in Education) students are excited to present the multimedia, multitextual “Mapungubwe Stories”. This performance deals with Mapungubwe, an archeological space long part of the University of Pretoria’s archeological history, and interweaves themes of identity, the self, ownership and voice(lessness) to bring life to the landscape and its many people.
Performances are weekdays at 12:00 and 19:00 for the rest of the week and admission is free.
