The Faculty launched its Seminar Series on 10 November 2010 with Prof Richard Stirzaker, Extraordinary Professor in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences as the first guest speaker in this series.

Prof Stirzaker is the Principal Research Scientist at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in Canberra in Australia.

The CSIRO is Australia’s national science agency and one of the largest and most diverse research agencies in the world. His address entitled Out of the Scientist Garden: A story of water and food gave insight on how the
current generation needs to double food production again in an era when we no longer have cheap fuel, fertiliser and abundant supplies of fresh water.
