Research

Research in the Department of Statistics takes place in four distinctive areas:

• Basic research in statistics and mathematical statistics
• Applied research in speciality areas such as econometrics, biometry, technometry, etc.
• Multidisciplinary research with UP-researchers at master's, doctoral and postdoctoral level (not commercial). These include statistical process control, beyond known distributions, data mining, generalised linear models, optimal design for linear mixed models, image processing, categorical data analysis, time series analysis, statistics education, official statistics, structural equation models and image processing.  
• Contract research at commercial level to comply with the needs of outside organisations.
