The Faculty of Veterinary Science's 1st rugby team became the new Steinhoff Tuks House League champions when they convincingly beat Mopanie in the final played on Tuesday
Onderstepoort became the new title holders by playing constructive and attacking rugby. They dominated Mopanie in about every facet of the game in the final played at the TuksRugby Stadium on Tuesday, 7 September.
OP won 33-13 after leading 22-3 at the break. Players who excelled for OP were flyhalf and captain, Piet-Piet Swart and the centre pairing of Phillip Viviers and Rob Swartz.
The Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Prof Gerry Swan, who also congratulated the students in a campuswide e-mail, today said that the OP rugby team made the Faculty proud. "In 2009 it was already evident that another semi-final and a possible win in the final were on the cards this year after last year's unfortunate and somewhat controversial final. They have worked hard for this and we can only commend them for their dedication and perserverance throughout the season", he said.
