Mr. Cilence Mungemuzulu, currently a BSc(Hons)(Geology) student at the University of Pretoria (UP), received an outstanding award for the Best poster presentation: Runners-up at the Inkaba ye-Africa workshop for his MSc project proposal presentation entitled: Determination of intercontinental plate velocities in Africa to support the establishment of the African Geodetic Reference Frame (AFREF).

The Faculty launched its Seminar Series on 10 November 2010 with Prof Richard Stirzaker, Extraordinary Professor in the Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences as the first guest speaker in this series.
