Danish Swimming, Swiss Swimming, English Swimming. All have congregated at the hpc on the University of Pretoria's sport grounds in February, despite the economic crunch felt worldwide.

Friday, 6 March 2009, marked an important day for Huis Boekenhout as we took part in the sixth national CANSA Shavathon. More than a 120 Boekenhout guys sprayed their hair blue to support this worthy cause!
UP is hosting its own CANSA Shavathon event for the first time on Thursday, 5 March 2009. The Shavathon will take place at the Piazza, between 11:00 and 13:00.
Postgraduate student of the Department of Music wins overseas music competition

Ben Schoeman, an MMus (Performing Arts) student of Prof Joseph Stanford, won the first prize in the piano section of the prestigious Royal Overseas League Annual Music Competition in London on 24 February 2009.

A high-level dialogue on Climate Justice was held at the University of Pretoria, jointly with the Global Humanitarian Forum, on Saturday, 28 February. Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and via video-link, Global Humanitarian Forum President, Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General, interacted with more than 250 students and faculty during the debate.
First formalised infant hearing screening at immunization visits

A postgraduate student in the Dept of Communication Pathology, Niki Friderichs, is coordinating the first formalised infant hearing screening project at primary health care clinics in Cape Town.
Three drama students, Tiloshne Govender, Luan Jacobs and Dillion Naicker were awarded scholarships to participate in the Paddy Crean International Stage Combat Workshop/Symposium.

Tuks’ representative in the FNB Varsity Cup hostel competition, Maroela, will have their first crack at the championships trophy on Saturday when they play Pukke’s Over de Voor at Coca-Cola Park in Johannesburg.
