In May 2012, the Centre for Geoinformation Science (CGIS) received a joint research grant under the South African - Namibia Research Partnership Programme. In the two years bilateral project literature reviews, case studies, models and empirical studies will be employed to explore, describe, explain and understand the use of spatial data infrastructure (SDI) and geomatics in health care and information management in a developing country.

The Onderstepoort Animal Rehabilitation Service (OARS) at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Academic Hospital (OVAH) - the training and reference hospital of the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria - has recently upgraded its hydrotherapy programme with a new underwater treadmill following a donation of R70 000 from PPS, the specialist financial services company focused on graduate professionals.

The brand-new, modern student accommodation that was officially opened by the University of Pretoria at the Onderstepoort Campus on 22 February 2012 will contribute to the University’s plans to significantly expand its Faculty of Veterinary Science. This was according to Prof Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria and also the keynote speaker at the event.
