A political economist, Moeletsi Mbeki, a younger brother of former South African President Thabo Mbeki and son of former ANC leader Govan Mbeki, visited the University of Pretoria's Groenkloof Campus where he delivered an absorbing public lecture to an audience of students, academics, politicians, journalists, business people and members of the diplomatic corps.

Innovation and creativity were on display during the 2011 Project Day held by the third-year Informatics students at the IT Building on Thursday last week. Twelve groups of students presented their final projects to fellow students, industry representatives, parents and other interested persons.

The University of Pretoria once again made its presence felt in the South African sports arena. Not only were Tuks athletes prominent on the world stage - winning 3 of a total of 4 medals won by South Africa, at the IAAF Athletics World Championships - it also produced the best netball player in the world and the fastest athlete in the 400mH for men for 2011
