Our lightweight fours team of James Thompson, Matthew Brittain, John Smith and Sizwe Ndlovu were named ‘Men's crew of the year’ by the World Rowing Federation at a dinner at Knappogue Castle, in Ireland, on Friday 2 November, before boarding a flight back to South Africa to collect the ‘Team-of-the-year Award’ at the SA Sports Awards at the Sandton Convention Centre on 4 November in Johannesburg. Olympic 800m silver medallist Caster Semenya collected the ‘Sportswoman of year’ award at the same function.
