UP takes lead with research on climate and malaria

A research project at the University of Pretoria (UP) which aims to put management and adaptation structures in place to bring relieve to thousands of people in Africa that is affected by malaria has recently been launched.
UP Arts hosts the Embassy of Mexico, presenting a concert in celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mexican independence.

"The official announcement of the University of Pretoria (UP) as the ANAFE SA-RAFT Focal Institution is the beginning of a strong and resilient relationship based on networking and strengthening partnerships. Together we can make an even bigger contribution using all the different networking platforms," said Prof Cheryl de la Rey, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Pretoria. The official announcement and handing over of the ANAFE office equipment took place on 6 September 2010.

Prof Hannes Rautenbach, Acting-Director: UP Water Institute and Head: Department of Geography, Geoinformatics and Meteorology, will collaborate with the University of Tokyo over the next three years in a high profile international project on seasonal climate forecasting.
