Pilot Programme Bursaries The Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at the University of Pretoria invites applications for bursaries for full-time PhD study within the Pilot Masters and Doctoral Programme in Mathematical Sciences commencing in 2013 or 2014. The Pilot Programme bursaries are awarded to excellent PhD applicants who have shown the potential to excel in research. The call is open to applicants who are in possession of an MSc degree in Mathematical Sciences or are expected to complete a relevant MSc degree in 2013. Applicants should send an application letter (maximum one page) indicating their personal goals and motivation for PhD study with attached degrees and transcripts. The names and contact details of two referees should also be included. Additional evidence of achievements such as publications, reports, distinctions, awards, should be provided in the form of a short CV (maximum two pages). Students who have already obtained their MSc degrees are expected to have formally applied for PhD admission at UP at the time of application for the bursary. PhD students who have already registered for 2013 are also eligible to apply. The value of the bursary is R 70 000 annually for three years.
