Sci-Enza: Hands-on Science! Wetenskap in Aksie!

How to book for a group visit

  1. Bookings & Fees
It is essential to book in advance - a confirmation of the booking will be faxed to you. We accept visitors from grade R and older.
A fee is payable on arrival at the centre (see below).
  2. Preparation
Learners will benefit from their outing to Sci-Enza if they have been briefed on the purpose of the visit.
  3. Group size
Although our lecture room can accommodate up to 100 learners, it is easier to interact with smaller groups. Smaller groups are more personal and the learners can receive more individual attention.
Numbers exceeding the approved reservation cannot be accommodated..
Note: TRAC- and Technology workshops are limited to groups of 30 learners.
Maximum group size for grade R to grade 2 groups is 60 learners to ensure proper supervision and attention to each visitor.
  4. Supervision
School groups should have at least one supervising educator per 30 learners (Free entry for 1 teacher per 30 learners, additional educators/supervisors must pay entrance fee). Supervisors must be present during the whole visit. Due to access control measures on campus neither learners nor supervisors may leave the campus during the visit.
  5. Discipline
Supervisors are responsible for keeping discipline among the learners. If discipline is not maintained, the group will be asked to leave. The fees will be forfeited.
  6. Punctuality
Please be on time. If you are late, we have the right to change the programme or even cancel your visit as the facilities are used for other functions as well.
  7. Food and Drink
Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed in the auditorium or in the exhibition space of Sci-Enza. There are a number of cafeterias on campus where the learners can buy refreshments. Large groups may make arrangements with these cafeterias. Contact us for details.
  8. Dress code
School groups must be dressed in their school uniform.
  9. Drunkenness
Learners or supervisors under the influence of alcohol or drugs are not welcome at Sci-Enza.
  10. Hangers-on
Persons that are not part of the group should book for their own visit.
  11. Damage
The cost of repairing any malicious damage to any exhibit will be recovered from your educational institution.
