About the Department of Marketing Management
The first chair in Marketing Management was established in 1970 as part of the then Department of Business Economics. March 1973 was a milestone in the development of marketing education when the first degrees in BCom (Marketing Management) were awarded.
On the 1st of January 1994, history was made when the first independent Department of Marketing and Communication Management was formed in the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences.
In 2012 a standalone Department of Marketing was formed when Communication Management was incorporated in the the Department of Business Management.
