Professor Lorenzo Fioramonti
Professors Maxi Schoeman and Lorenzo Fioramonti were recently awarded a Volkswagen Foundation research fund as part of a cooperation project with the University of Tubingen, Germany.
The grant which amounts to roughly R800 000 will allow researchers at the Department of Political Sciences to focus on the role of regional organisations (mainly the European Union and the African Union) in responding to regional conflicts in Africa. The project was funded as part of a multi-year funding scheme known as "Europe and Global Challenges", funded by Germany's Volkswagen Foundation, Italy's Compagnia di San Paolo and Sweden's Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
