UP Postdoc Fellow receives peace award

In June Dr Cori Wielenga, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Political Sciences, was a co-recipient of the Global Peace Award from the International Public Policy Institute.
Dr Wielenga received the award, along with Rwanda's Jean de Dieu Basabose and the DRC's Jean Pierre Mfuni, for her peace work in Rwanda. The honour was conferred at a University of KwaZulu-Natal conference on education and peacebuilding, where Dr Wielenga presented a paper on her research in Rwanda.
The International Public Policy Institute is an Economic and Social Council and Department of Public Information non-governmental organisation in consultative status with the United Nations.
