South Africa celebrated their 4th consecutive victory in the Regional All-Africa Challenge Trophy (RAACT) with another strong performance in the final round at Centurion Country Club on Thursday 16 May.
Daniel Slabbert claimed a third consecutive Nedbank South African Disabled Golf Open title with a convincing 12-stroke victory at the Legend Golf & Safari Resort on Wednesday 15 May.
Slabbert closed with a 75 to finish on six-over-par 222, with Sweden's Caroline Larsson his nearest challenger on 234 after a 78.
Top juniors Magda Kruger, grade 12 TuksSport High School learner and Bianca Theron put South Africa in command at the Regional All-Africa Challenge Trophy (RAACT) with blistering performances in Tuesday’s first round at Centurion Country Club. Kruger blitzed her home course with a flawless seven-under-par 65, while Theron from Devonvale Golf Estate responded with an equally impressive 66 to combine for an opening total of 13-under-par 131. The two remaining South Africans, Lara Weinstein (hpc/TuksGolf Academy) and Sylvia Masango, carded non-counting rounds of 71 and 76 respectively.
At the NJSA Provincial Closed tournament held this weekend (10 – 12 May) at the Pretoria Country Club, both Callan Hall, grade 9 TSHS and Boipelo Montwedi, grade 11 TSHS took their respective age group titles.
Cornell Fredericks, hpc sponsored athlete took bronze in the men’s 400m Hurdles on Friday night, 10 May in Doha, Qatar in a time of 49.35.4. LJ van Zyl, hpc sponsored athlete finished in 6th place with 50.74.
Marlies Ross has received Senior National Colours (Protea) for the FINA World Champs.
